Experience 3 Days in the Sahara Desert

Spending time in the Sahara Desert offers a profound sense of timelessness. Our 3-day Sahara Desert tour takes you deep into the vastness of the world’s largest hot desert, where the silence and beauty of the dunes create an unforgettable experience.

On Day 1, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, Morocco’s highest road pass. The journey offers breathtaking views of the rugged landscapes and traditional Berber villages.

On Day 2, we travel through the Todra Gorge, a dramatic canyon with sheer 300m (985ft) cliffs, before reaching Merzouga in the late afternoon. From here, embark on a camel trek across the golden sand dunes to a Bedouin desert camp, where you’ll spend the night under the vast, star-filled sky.

On Day 3, we begin our journey to Fes, traveling through ever-changing landscapes. Along the way, we may encounter nomadic shepherds tending their flocks, offering a glimpse into the traditional way of life in the Moroccan desert.

Day 1

Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Your 3-day Sahara Desert tour  begins with a pickup from your riad, setting off towards the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass—Morocco’s highest road pass at 2,260m (7,417ft). Along the way, take in spectacular views of Berber villagesand the dramatic mountain landscape.

We stop at Telouet Kasbah, once the grand residence of the Pasha of Marrakech, before continuing south to Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous UNESCO-listed Kasbah. This historic fortress, featured in films such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Sheltering Sky, and Gladiator, offers a glimpse into Morocco’s rich past.

Next, we reach Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, where you can explore the world-famous Atlas Film Studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. Continuing along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, we arrive at Dades Gorge, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel overlooking the valley, surrounded by rugged cliffs and breathtaking scenery.

Day 2

Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Rissani – Merzouga – Sahara

After breakfast, we travel through the Todra Gorge, a striking canyon with 300m (985ft) high cliffs, renowned among rock climbers and adventurers. From the Todra Valley, enjoy panoramic views of ancient mud-brick villages set against the towering rock formations.

Passing through the villages of Tinjdad, Mallaab, and Touroug, we reach Merzouga in the late afternoon. Here, your camel guide will welcome you for an unforgettable camel trek across the golden dunes, leading you to a traditional Bedouin camp. Spend the night immersed in the vastness and silence of the desert, beneath a sky filled with stars.

Day 3

Merzouga – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Ceder Forest -Ifrane – Fes

Rise early to witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise, then camel trek back to Merzouga for breakfast at a local hotel or a Berber family home.

We then begin our journey to Fes, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains via the Talghoumt Pass, where you may spot nomadic shepherds tending their flocks. A stop at the Cedar Forest, the largest in Morocco, offers a chance to see the native Barbary apes in their natural habitat.

Continuing north, we pass through Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. By evening, we arrive in Fes, one of Morocco’s Imperial Cities, where your adventure comes to an end.
