7 Day Imperial Morocco & the Golden Dunes

Tour Plan :
Day 1: Casablanca – Meknes – Fes
Upon arrival at Casablanca Airport (CMN), your private driver/guide will greet you in the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name. Begin your journey with a visit to the majestic Hassan II Mosque—one of the largest mosques in the world and a marvel of modern Islamic architecture. Enjoy a scenic stop along Casablanca’s coastal Corniche before continuing to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. There, you'll explore the city's historic sites, including the grand Bab Mansour gate, the royal granaries, Sahrij Souani, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After immersing yourself in Meknes' imperial charm, travel via highway to Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most vibrant cities. Upon arrival, check in to your traditional riad located within the medina walls. Enjoy a relaxing evening in the heart of the city. Overnight stay in Fes with bed and breakfast (BB) included.
Day 2: Fes Exploration Day
After breakfast at your riad, embark on a full day of guided exploration through the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco—Fes. Begin with a walking tour through the ancient Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Al Karaouine Mosque and University, the oldest functioning educational institution in the world. Explore the Medersa Bou Inania, the famous tanneries, and the Najjarine Fountain. After lunch, continue your discovery outside the medina walls with a visit to the ornate Royal Palace gates and the Jewish Quarter, known as the Mellah. You’ll also stop by a traditional pottery cooperative to learn about the city’s renowned craftsmanship. In the late afternoon, enjoy a panoramic view of the medina from a nearby hilltop fortress, a perfect way to capture the essence of this timeless city. Return to your riad for the evening. Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
Following breakfast, depart Fes and journey southeast toward the Sahara Desert. The scenic drive takes you through the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, with the first stop in Ifrane—known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture. Continue to Azrou and the majestic Cedar Forest, where you may encounter Barbary macaques. Enjoy lunch in Midelt, then drive through dramatic desert landscapes as the scenery shifts toward Er Rachidia. En route, you’ll pass the lush Ziz Valley and the palm groves of Tafilalet before arriving in Merzouga. Upon arrival, prepare for an unforgettable camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, guided by an experienced camel handler. Watch the sun set over the golden sands before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy dinner under a canopy of stars, accompanied by traditional Berber music. Overnight in the camp with dinner and breakfast (HB) included.
Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Rise early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes, then enjoy breakfast and a refreshing shower at camp. Ride back by camel or 4x4 to meet your driver in Merzouga. Depart for the Todra Gorges via Rissani and Tinghir, passing through captivating desert and mountain scenery. The Todra Gorges, with their towering canyon walls, offer spectacular views and walking opportunities. After lunch in the gorge area, continue to the Dades Valley along the famed Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. The route is lined with mud-brick villages and dramatic red rock formations, including the famous “monkey toes” shaped cliffs. Settle into your charming hotel or guesthouse tucked into the valley, where dinner will be served. Spend the evening relaxing, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of southern Morocco’s rugged landscape. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley (HB) included.
Day 5: Dades – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, travel along the ancient caravan route that once connected Marrakech to Timbuktu. Pass through the Valley of Roses and Skoura’s palm groves before arriving in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Visit the nearby UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, an exceptional example of southern Moroccan architecture and the backdrop of many iconic films. Enjoy time to explore and take photos of this historic fortress village. After lunch, begin the ascent over the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, marvel at breathtaking vistas and stop at panoramic viewpoints. In the late afternoon, arrive in Marrakech and check into your riad in the medina. Unwind and prepare for your exploration of the vibrant Red City the following day. Bed and breakfast (BB) included.
Day 6: Marrakech Exploration Day
After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Marrakech, the legendary “Red City.” Begin at the towering Koutoubia Minaret before exploring the Saadian Tombs, an exquisite example of Moorish architecture. Next, visit the Bahia Palace with its lush gardens and intricate tilework, and the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa, once a leading Islamic school. Wander the labyrinthine alleys of the medina and its souks, rich with spices, textiles, and traditional crafts. After lunch near the lively Jemaa El Fna Square, continue to the serene Majorelle Garden, a botanical oasis once owned by Yves Saint Laurent. Time permitting, explore the modern district of Gueliz with its cafés and boutiques. In the evening, return to the square, where performers, food stalls, and music create an unforgettable atmosphere. Overnight at your riad. Bed and breakfast (BB) included.
Day 7: Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your riad. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have free time to revisit the medina, shop for souvenirs, or savor a final cup of Moroccan mint tea at a rooftop café overlooking Jemaa El Fna. When it’s time, your driver will transfer you to the airport for your departure. As your journey comes to an end, we hope you leave Morocco with cherished memories, a deeper connection to its rich culture, and the desire to return.
