2 Day Zagora Desert Tour & Camel Trekking
A short desert escape from Marrakech, designed for travelers seeking a first taste of Morocco’s southern landscapes. This two-day journey offers a swift yet atmospheric transition from city life to open desert horizons.
Tour Plan :
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora
Depart Marrakech in the morning and begin the journey through the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with panoramic views of Berber villages and terraced hillsides. Stop for a visit to the historic Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its striking architecture and film appearances. Continue to Ouarzazate for lunch near the Taourirt Kasbah. The afternoon drive takes you through the volcanic peaks of the Tizi N’Tnifift Pass and into the vast Draa Valley, dotted with palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Arrive in Zagora in time for a short camel ride into the desert. As the sun sets, reach your camp, where a private tent with en-suite bathroom and hot shower awaits. Enjoy a warm dinner and traditional music around the campfire.
Day 2: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early to take in the quiet beauty of the desert morning. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel or 4x4 to meet your driver. Begin the journey back north along the Draa Valley, passing through small villages and stretches of palm groves. There’s time to stop for photos or a short walk along the valley before continuing on to Ouarzazate. Depending on timing, you may visit the Kasbah of Taourirt or simply enjoy a relaxed lunch in town. From there, head back through the High Atlas Mountains, once again crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The scenery changes as you descend toward Marrakech, with arrival in the early evening.
